When we started our #BSF Organic Waste Conversion Center 4 years ago in Lombok Island Indonesia, I had high hopes: “Envisioning the Utopia where all stakeholders do their part and everyone embraces the positiveness of the project and are grateful for it.”
However reality kicks-in in many forms…. a long pandemic, local community challenges, political corruption, lack of public infrastructure and lack of support.
Somehow #Environmental Focused Projects are not as popular as Human focused charity projects, health, education, children, cute animals … and is a shame cause Environment is the umbrella over everything else. Improving Environment helps all earthlings.
Our journey in BSF has been very tough and challenging but we are now proud to enter PHASE II:
Currently BSF Sengkol Facility creates value out of waste by bio-converting Organic Municipal Waste into Compost and Whole Larva Protein Feed for Chickens and Fish.
Our phase II focuses on establishing a #Regenerative Agriculture Learning Center, to show how #CircularEconomy works, helping the current Food Production System to absorb its waste and become Circular.
The Regenerative Agriculture Center initiative aims to improve income generation opportunities of mostly rural farmers, reduce health risks through sustainable waste management training, and improve organic waste management infrastructure whilst positioning a community led food waste management center in Sengkol as a Center of Excellence for organic waste management. The initiative is expected to serve as a catalyst for communities and various stakeholders in Lombok and West Nusa Tenggara to learn from
and adapt the concepts implemented at Sengkol Organic Waste Center.
We need further support…
