In December 2024, Bambook Studio received an award of Appreciation from both United Nations and Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta at the PAGE Indonesia Partnership for Action on Green Economy, for our efforts to Accelerate the Green Transformation in Lombok.
As co-founder of BSF Sengkol (the largest Community Run Food Waste Conversion Center in Indonesia) it was an honor for me to also Speak in the event and share the “very challenging” insides of our journey and what is to come in order for us to close the loop in this perfect example of a Circular Economy Business Model.
Our facility not only has contributed to divert from Landfill over 200 tons of food waste (equivalent to over 45tons of GHG emission reduction) but also is now providing trainings on Regenerative Agriculture in order to provide alternative solutions to the terrible practices (BTW also promoted by the Government) of corn monocrops which have deforested over 1 million hectars of Tropical Forest in NTB, Indonesia in the past 5 years.
We keep getting asked how to replicate this project to multiply the impact… Well is impossible if we don’t have a team of committed Indonesians who care about the Environment and a REAL financial support from the Government.
Prizes like this give us hope, but is not at all enough in the efforts to get Indonesian aligned with their Paris Agreement Pledge and Agenda 2030 Commitments.
WE KEEP ON, for our love to the planet, cause we firmly believe HELPING THE ENVIRONMENT wherever you are, helps the world as a whole.
